Optional: purchase on this page → copy your MORAY_ key from Polar (email or customer portal). 6. Paste license key → Activate (ties this machine to a seat; internet required once). 7. To free a seat: Polar customer portal (CompStart profile → Manage Billing) → deactivate an activation.

FAQ
Is Moray free?
Yes for evaluation: download and render with a watermark, no key required. Buy a Polar license for clean frames plus Cryptomatte and deep EXR. OpenMoonRay (the renderer core) is Apache 2.0 open source.
Is this USD / Hydra?
No. Moray's production path is Blender → RDL2 directly (session worker). It is not a Hydra delegate and does not go through Blender's USD Hydra path.
What does the free watermark mode include?
Beauty, normal AOVs, and viewport progressive feedback. Cryptomatte and deep EXR stay disabled until a valid license is active.
Windows and Linux?
Yes — platform-specific extension zips. OptiX XPU needs an NVIDIA GPU; without one, MoonRay runs on CPU.
Does it replace Cycles?
It's another render engine with its own materials and controls. MoonRay XPU accelerates occlusion on GPU (shading stays on CPU), unlike Cycles' full GPU path. Use it when you want MoonRay's look and RDL2 workflow.
How many machines can I use?
Paid keys have a limited number of activations (seats) on the Polar license benefit (typically 2). Activate on each machine you use. To move a seat, deactivate the old machine in Blender or the Polar customer portal.
Where do I find my license key?
After purchase, Polar emails the key and shows it in the Polar customer portal (CompStart profile → Manage Billing). Keys use a MORAY_ prefix.
I bought this on Gumroad before — what now?
New purchases and updates ship through CompStart + Polar. Contact support if you need help migrating an older Gumroad key.
